Modified Travel Routes
The Jughandle Project will modify some local travel routes to improve the flow of traffic and reduce the
potential for accidents. Travelers accustomed to making left turns at the intersection of Hwy 213 with Clackamas River Drive/Washington
Street are encouraged to preview their new travel routes shown in the illustrations below.
Traveling to Washington St and Clackamas River Dr from I-205

A safe crossing for travel between Clackamas River Drive and Washington Street will be provided by the realignment
of Washington Street under the highway.

Routes to and from I-205 will not
be altered for motorists traveling on Hwy 213 south of the interchange. However, motorists traveling between northbound I-205
and points north of the Hwy 213/I-205 interchange (e.g., Pope Lane or the pedestrian bridge to High Rocks) will use different
routes once the Jughandle Project is constructed:
Traveling to points north of the interchange from northbound I-205
- Existing route: From the northbound
I-205 off-ramp, turn left to travel north on Hwy 213.
- Future route: From the northbound I-205 off-ramp, turn right to first travel south on Hwy 213 a
short distance and then make a series of right turns (through the “jughandle”) to pass under the highway and return
to Hwy 213 traveling north.
Traveling
to northbound I-205 from points north of the interchange
- Existing route: Travel south on Hwy 213 and turn left onto the northbound I-205
on-ramp.
- Future route: Travel south on Hwy 213 through the interchange and then make a series of right turns (through the “jughandle”)
to pass under the highway and return to Hwy 213 traveling north. Turn right onto the northbound I-205 on-ramp.
Traveling to points north of the interchange from southbound I-205
- Existing and future route (no change): From the southbound I-205 off-ramp, turn left to travel north on Hwy 213.
Traveling
to southbound I-205 from points north of the interchange
- Existing and future
route (no change): Travel south on Hwy 213
and turn right onto the southbound I-205 on-ramp.
