Modified Travel Routes
New routes scheduled
to go into effect on August 27, 2012
The Jughandle Project is modifying some local travel routes to improve the flow of traffic and reduce the risk of accidents.
The new jughandle roadway configuration replaces problematic left turns across Hwy 213 with routes that loop underneath the
highway. This helps to reduce conflict points, dangerous vehicle cross weaving, and the wait time at the Hwy 213 traffic signal. Right-turning traffic is kept flowing through the use
of dedicated right-turn lanes, a roundabout, and vehicle sensor technology at the signalized intersections.
Travel to
and from Clackamas River Drive and Washington Street
A median barrier on Hwy 213 prevents left turns and straight movements across the highway at the intersection with Clackamas River Drive and Prairie
Schooner Way (formerly Washington Street).
